Project Profile: Training Local NGOs in Mexico

In 2015, LINC launched a partnership with Fondo Unido Mexico (United Way Mexico, FUM) to support capacity building of Mexican civil society organizations. In February, LINC designed an intensive workshop on Project Cycle Management and delivered it in Mexico City for participants from 26 of FUM’s partner organizations. The activity was a great success, and is now being expanded to two additional locations in Mexico. We hope to reach over 100 Mexican NGOs before we are finished.

FUM has an exciting model for supporting and promoting Mexican CSOs. They have a strong network of corporate and individual donors who FUM keeps well-informed about the educational, health, and income needs of vulnerable communities throughout the country, and about the excellent services that capable local organizations are providing to address those needs. Their implementing partner organizations continue to achieve substantial impact and are able to grow and improve continuously through the support that FUM offers, including training workshops like those delivered by LINC.

In the Mexico City workshop, participant organizations had excellent experience to draw on and to share with each other. Lively discussions were facilitated around understanding the theory of change, the causal relationships that drive project impact, and measuring results. Participants found the planning, progress monitoring and management tools that were shared to be extremely useful for their work.
